Where do you get your Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress themes?

January 15th, 2008 by Mojo | No Comments | Filed in Open Source, Site Recommendations, Website Development

I don’t know if you have ever visited the site Themebot or not. But if you haven’t let me recommend it to you. It is pretty much a one stop shop for most free open source templates.

I remember when this guy was fist setting this site up. I tried to reverse engineer it. I know he used to use Gallery 2. But then I realized I wasn’t very interested in running a template site.

I do use it alot. Especially when I need to some quick Drupal templating. There are nice demos setup for each template so I visit to get good ideas and code snippets.

Anyway, I was just over there looking at some stuff and thought I would share it. There again , most of you probably already knew about it.

I am always a few steps behind.

Auctions Ads becomes Shopping Ads

January 8th, 2008 by Mojo | No Comments | Filed in Making Money Online, Open Source

Is anyone interested in a Shopping Ads module for Joomla?

Awhile ago I wrote an Auction AdsRevenue Sharing Module for Joomla.

It is based on the same php code I used to make the Google Adsense Revenue Sharing module.

I guess now I will have to change it now. It shouldn’t require too much effort if I can find the time.

I did not get as much attention for the Joomla auction ads module.  So maybe after recreating it , with Shopping Ads it will get more attention.

So what is Shopping Ads?

Auction Ads needed a re-branding. It was based on Commission Junction’s ebay affiliates. I have heard of a few people getting paid but not many. Not anymore.

Basically if someone bought something from your site by clicking on an Auction Ad then you got a percentage of Ebay’s commision.

The idea behind auction ads was that by combining the affiliate power of many people you could get be in a higher percentage bracket for Ebay.

I am not sure why it didn’t take off. There were a lot of reporting errors. But, hell, I get the same reporting errors from CJ.

Shopping Adstakes a more direct approach. With Shopping Ads, you can have both CPA and CPC ads. I believe you have to become a premium publisher to guarantee CPC ads. I’ll have to investigate more.

They also have dropped the new Web 2.0 ad format at least for now. This will make life a little easier for me when I redo the module.
