What is a Pay to Click ( PTC ) program?

September 5th, 2008 by Mojo | No Comments | Filed in Making Money Online, Site Recommendations

I often get asked, what are these programs you have me signing up for? How does it benefit me? How do I earn money with them?

Pay to Click programs are programs that pay you usually between $ 0.005 to $0.0135 for clicking a link and viewing an advertisers website for 30 sec.

Each Pay to Click websites has its subtleties but for the most part they follow this pattern.

Membership

When you first sign up for a pay to click program, you begin as a standard member. Standard members are paid the lowest amount per click usually only half a cent. You also are limited to the number of ads you can view (somewhere between 6-8). It is hard to make any good earnings this way.

The PTC site will offer a better membership packages (generally called gold members).

Gold members are served more links to click daily and they earn between 1 cent and 1.5 cents a click.

Referrals

The next part of this game is building referrals. There are always two types of referrals in every PTC but some bunch their earnings together and other separate the two.

Direct referrals are referral that you know such as friends or family, or folks you get to sign up using your referral banners and links. This is often done by blogging about programs or using forum signature links.

Buying referrals (or now renting referrals) is another way to gain an army of clickers underneath you. The idea here is that a number of people sign up for the program unreferred by anyone and so when you purchase a referral pack, the PTC program assigns these referral to you as if you referred them.

Generally, the membership rules apply to referrals also. Less money per click for standard and more money per click for golden memberships.

Getting Paid

All PTCs require some sort of minimum before you cashout. This could be anywhere from $2.00 to $20.00.

Depending on the program this can be an instant process or a 3 month process. It is wise to investigate the forums of the programs to see if there is any payment complaints.

Paypal usually does not support PTC programs so you will need an Alertpay account.

Scams

PTC has a bad reputation of being a scam industry. I website can easily be set up, have fake advertiser websites on our viewing page, begin to collect money and then disappear.

PTC sites also run out of money. They may have good intentions but they end up having to put up their own advertisements to provide links for people to click and never get the advertiser base they need to support the programs. In this case, the PTC become a ponzi in that they are paying what they owe out of the membership upgrades and not advertising revenue.

That being said there are some good , legitimate PTCs out there. And if you are lucky enough to find one. Stick with it. It’s extra cash.

Where do you get your Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress themes?

January 15th, 2008 by Mojo | No Comments | Filed in Open Source, Site Recommendations, Website Development

I don’t know if you have ever visited the site Themebot or not. But if you haven’t let me recommend it to you. It is pretty much a one stop shop for most free open source templates.

I remember when this guy was fist setting this site up. I tried to reverse engineer it. I know he used to use Gallery 2. But then I realized I wasn’t very interested in running a template site.

I do use it alot. Especially when I need to some quick Drupal templating. There are nice demos setup for each template so I visit to get good ideas and code snippets.

Anyway, I was just over there looking at some stuff and thought I would share it. There again , most of you probably already knew about it.

I am always a few steps behind.
