What to do if you can’t rent referrals?

July 30th, 2008 by Mojo | No Comments | Filed in Neo Bux FAQ, Open Source

Neobux has a great , inexpensive referral renting program. It is truly innovative in the PTC world.

Many people complain when the referral rentals run out, but they shouldn’t as there are many many opportunites to increase your profits per day.

I was recently looking at my rented referrals list. Barely 60% had clicked in the last two days. I have over 600 referrals so if I think about that, it leaves about 200 referrals that I could recycle .

By recycling , I have the opportunity to replace the referrals that aren’t clicking. So instead of trying to get that new 100 pack of rented refferals I would get 200 clicking referrals.

There is also the jackpot. Sure it cost a lot more than 20 dollars to get 100 referrals but it is a lot easier to get referrals this way.

I personally got 300 referrals this way today.

If you want to know my strategy just sign up under me as a referral and post here I will tell you.

The jackpot money can come from either AlertPay or your main balance. Just start clicking the squares and it will deduct from your balance.

Where do you get your Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress themes?

January 15th, 2008 by Mojo | No Comments | Filed in Open Source, Site Recommendations, Website Development

I don’t know if you have ever visited the site Themebot or not. But if you haven’t let me recommend it to you. It is pretty much a one stop shop for most free open source templates.

I remember when this guy was fist setting this site up. I tried to reverse engineer it. I know he used to use Gallery 2. But then I realized I wasn’t very interested in running a template site.

I do use it alot. Especially when I need to some quick Drupal templating. There are nice demos setup for each template so I visit to get good ideas and code snippets.

Anyway, I was just over there looking at some stuff and thought I would share it. There again , most of you probably already knew about it.

I am always a few steps behind.

Auctions Ads becomes Shopping Ads

January 8th, 2008 by Mojo | No Comments | Filed in Making Money Online, Open Source

Is anyone interested in a Shopping Ads module for Joomla?

Awhile ago I wrote an Auction AdsRevenue Sharing Module for Joomla.

It is based on the same php code I used to make the Google Adsense Revenue Sharing module.

I guess now I will have to change it now. It shouldn’t require too much effort if I can find the time.

I did not get as much attention for the Joomla auction ads module.  So maybe after recreating it , with Shopping Ads it will get more attention.

So what is Shopping Ads?

Auction Ads needed a re-branding. It was based on Commission Junction’s ebay affiliates. I have heard of a few people getting paid but not many. Not anymore.

Basically if someone bought something from your site by clicking on an Auction Ad then you got a percentage of Ebay’s commision.

The idea behind auction ads was that by combining the affiliate power of many people you could get be in a higher percentage bracket for Ebay.

I am not sure why it didn’t take off. There were a lot of reporting errors. But, hell, I get the same reporting errors from CJ.

Shopping Adstakes a more direct approach. With Shopping Ads, you can have both CPA and CPC ads. I believe you have to become a premium publisher to guarantee CPC ads. I’ll have to investigate more.

They also have dropped the new Web 2.0 ad format at least for now. This will make life a little easier for me when I redo the module.

Bye Joomla! Hello , robots?

October 6th, 2007 by Mojo | No Comments | Filed in Open Source, Ramblings

So, have any of you ever tried to use Drupal? I remember being introduced six years ago. It was my first content management system. I thought I knew about web design ,and then all these new terms get thrown at me: nodes, taxonomy, vocabularies, term, tagging.

So as any good self learner would do, I jumped on the forums. Post after post went unanswered and as I read it was obvious these users were obsessed with their API that only , well, a “robot” could understand. So I took the path of least resistance. I moved to Joomla.

Do you remember Joomla, say two years ago. The forum was lively. Moderators would actually answer your questions. I even PMed a few when I started out and they were glad to help me. Joomla was easy to catch on to. Joomla taught me PHP. I loved Joomla.

Well, I am disappointed in Joomla these days. I like to think I have helped the cause. I have contributed several free modules. I have made SEO improvements on a few. I answer questions from Digitalpoint users concerning Joomla both in threads and by PM. I have asked not and wanted not.

However, I can’t overlook the fact that about one out of every 12 posts I have posted on Joomla forums has gone unanswered. They are good questions I think. I hardly ever ask a question without first searching the forum threads and searching Google. I try to ask the questions in a way that will benefit anyone who reads it.

But, alas, they go unanswered. And you know what, Drupal’s forums are picking up. Seems there is a new crop that is enjoying the flexibility Drupal offers and is helping answer questions.

Maybe it is because Joomla alienated a good bit of their userbase with their “tunnel” interperation of what GPL stands for. Who knows. But if you want to learn Drupal. Now seems to be the time.

The robots are now at Joomla and obsessed with their new code.
